“Uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed” Psalm 82:3

We believe it is our responsibility as Jesus followers to care for those around us. At this particular time, as we face the Covid-19 crisis, there many opportunities to meet people’s needs.

Proverbs 14:31 says “When you’re kind to the poor you honour God” – what powerful words!

Our Social Action department seeks to practically share the love of Jesus, to offer hope to those facing difficulties, to show dignity to every person we come into contact with and to provide or point people towards ongoing support.

Love the BorougH

Love the Borough is our initiative to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a practical way.

From the 9th-11th June, the church engaged in several different projects to help, bless and transform our local community.

store city

Store City is our food bank that is here to help people in our community who are in need. We take referrals from local agencies and try to do as much as we can to provide both the necessary food required and ongoing support for those facing difficulties especially at this time.

If you would like to help us stock up Store City, click on one of the shopping lists below to see the items that we need.

Food can be dropped at these times:

            Sundays from 10am-12pm

You can help by donating baby/child clothes for newborn - age 6 that are of a good quality.

Please bring them washed!

You can also help by buying any of the following items:

  • Nappies

  • Wet wipes

  • Baby lotion

  • Nappy cream

  • Baby wash

  • Nappy sacks

Or you can donate money towards this project (add the reference: ‘baby bank’)

You can drop them off at church in the Store City room:

  • Sundays from 10am-12noon

This initiative is to support families who are particularly vulnerable at this time. In partnership with Tenacious Kidz, we are providing ”fun bags” to families who are living in hostels, facing grief, or experiencing other difficult circumstances. These fun bags are made up of craft, toys and games to suit the ages and genders of the children in each individual family.

If you were looking to donate, here is a list of things that we need:

  • Colouring books/ drawing pads

  • Pencils/ pens/ crayons

  • Balls/ other outdoor games

  • Stamps

  • Bubbles

  • Glue sticks

  • Pencil sharpeners

  • Craft activities (e.g. make a tiara/ bracelet/ car)

  • Small games or toys (e.g.playing cards/  lego set/ puzzles/ slime)

  • Toys for toddlers

Kids' fun bags

We are going in every Wednesday morning to run a coffee morning for the residents in one of our local hostels to provide them with a sense of community. This is a great way for us to support the adults that are living in the hostel, plus their babies/ toddlers.
