“Uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed” Psalm 82:3
We believe it is our responsibility as Jesus followers to care for those around us. At this particular time, as we face the Covid-19 crisis, there many opportunities to meet people’s needs.
Proverbs 14:31 says “When you’re kind to the poor you honour God” – what powerful words!
Our values for social action at London Riverside Church are as follows:
To practically share the love of Jesus to those in need
To offer hope to those facing difficulties
To show dignity to every person we come into contact with
To provide or point people toward ongoing support and help
Store City is our food bank that is here to help people in our community who are in need. We take referrals from local agencies and try to do as much as we can to provide both the necessary food required and ongoing support for those facing difficulties especially at this time.
If you would like to help us stock up Store City, click on one of the shopping lists below to see the items that we need.
Food can be dropped at these times:
Monday – Friday : 5.30-6.30pm or Saturday & Sunday: 12-1pm
This initiative is to support families who are particularly vulnerable at this time. In partnership with Tenacious Kidz, we are providing ”fun bags” to families who are living in hostels, facing grief, or experiencing other difficult circumstances. These fun bags are made up of craft, toys and games to suit the ages and genders of the children in each individual family.
Here is some feedback we got from agencies, schools and families:
From a Family
"Hello Abby, Thank you so much, my kids are so excited and happy. I really appreciate it"
From a School
"Thank you so much London Riverside Church. God bless all."
From a Family
"Thank you very much for the supplies, that was very thoughtful of you all. They are very useful and my daughter loves every item in the gift pack. She says 'thanks ever so much'. God bless you all"

cap - life skills
CAP - Life Skills is a friendly group that gives people the confidence and decision making skills they need to survive life on a low income. We teach people practical money saving techniques, such as cooking on a budget, living healthily on less, and making your money go further. You are welcome to join our course that meets once a week for eight weeks.
CAP - Life Skills is not running at this moment in time but when the current government social distancing restrictions have been lifted we will resume the course. Let us know if you are interested in attending.
On Easter Sunday we gave 45 hampers out to elderly and vulnerable people in both our church and community. Here are a few pictures from this initiative:
