“Uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed” Psalm 82:3
We believe it is our responsibility as Jesus followers to care for those around us. At this particular time, as we face the Covid-19 crisis, there many opportunities to meet people’s needs.
Proverbs 14:31 says “When you’re kind to the poor you honour God” – what powerful words!
Our Social Action department seeks to practically share the love of Jesus, to offer hope to those facing difficulties, to show dignity to every person we come into contact with and to provide or point people towards ongoing support.
Store City is our food bank that is here to help people in our community who are in need. We take referrals from local agencies and try to do as much as we can to provide both the necessary food required and ongoing support for those facing difficulties especially at this time.
If you would like to help us stock up Store City, click on one of the shopping lists below
to see the items that we need.
Food can be dropped at these times:
Sundays from 08:30 am - 2:30 pm
HOSTELS
We are going in every Wednesday morning to run a coffee morning for the residents in one of our local hostels to provide them with a sense of community. This is a great way for us to support the adults that are living in the hostel, plus their babies/ toddlers.
cap - life skills
Love the Borough is when we close all our weekend church services to go and be the hands and feet of Jesus in very practical ways.
From the 7th-9th of June we were engaged in several projects to help, bless and transform our local community.
Look out for the next Love the Borough opportunity alongside our regular social action initiatives!
