Day 1 // Trust God - Do Not Fear

Psalm 112:6-7

“Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever. They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.”

Psalm 56:3-4

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

Today there are so many things we can fear. We can fear leaving our homes and catching Covid-19. We can fear losing our loved ones, our jobs and financial stability. Some of us may fear losing our mental or emotional wellbeing.

God’s word reminds us that we do not need to fear. We do not need to fear bad news of any kind. Whether it is latest announcement from our Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, our doctor or our employer; God is ultimately in control of our lives. We must keep our eyes fixed on God and not on our circumstances. We do not need to fear. Today remember God’s presence and peace is with us in every situation. He is our rock. God is our strength. God is faithful and he is our defender. Do not fear situations, circumstances, reports, or man. Trust in God and do not be afraid.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to trust you and not to fear. Remind us that you are ultimately in control of our lives and we can trust you. Please fill us with your peace. In the precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen

Day 2 // Trust God to Provide for You

Psalms 37:5

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act.”

Luke 12:31

“Seek the kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.”

Growing up in a Christian family, I remember going to Sunday School and singing our second verse. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness. And all these things shall be added unto you. Hallelu Hallelujah.”

Having to trust God for provision is something I am sure most of us have faced at one time or another.

I remember a time when I went to the opticians many years ago and my prescription had changed. I could not afford to pay for a new set of glasses, so I left the store agreeing to come back another time to order a new set. I will never forget a friend knocking at the door one evening with an envelope in her hand. She said, “God told me to give you this. I do not know what its for. I just know he wants me to give it to you.” I’ll be showing my age when I say it was a cheque! But is was for the exact amount a new set of glasses cost.

That day I learnt a powerful lesson. God provides. But also, God provides through us. It is so important for us to listen to the Holy Spirit when he asks us to do something. You will never know how significant the request is for the recipient.

Over the years, I have seen God provide for me and my family in all sorts of ways. As I continue to trust him to provide for the things I have not yet received. I am reminded of the times he has shown himself trustworthy to provide in the past.

Prayer: “Lord, thank you that you are the King of kings and Lord or lords. You are the creator of all the earth and everything in it belongs to you. As we wait upon you for provision, we thank you for all the times you have provided for us in the past. Help us to continue to put our trust in you. You are Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. Amen.”

Day 3 // Trust God to Give You Peace

Roman 8:28

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Maintaining peace during a is not easy. There are so many things around us which take our peace away. We are challenged today to keep our mind and thoughts on the Lord. If you find yourself struggling to find peace meditate on the word of God. Meditate means to give your attention to one thing, serious thought or study.

You can repeat the verse in Isaiah when you start to lose your peace and just remind yourself God is trustworthy. You can trust God to give you His peace.

Prayer: “God thank you that your word says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you”. Father God, I thank you that I can trust you. I thank you that you will keep me in perfect peace. You are Jehovah Shalom, my peace. Amen

Day 4 // Trust God to Lead You

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Psalm 143: 8

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.

Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”

According to the average person makes 35,000 choices per day! One of the things I try to pray for daily is wisdom. I have many different responsibilities I juggle every day. I am very conscious that I want to use my time wisely. I used to continually multi-tasking trying to get even more accomplished than humanly possible! One day I heard a sermon on “God’s Rest”. The speaker talked about how God rested on the seventh day when he created the world. He went further to say if the creator of the world needed to rest, how much more do we need to make time to rest with our earthly bodies.

I have discovered over the years that I must take time to rest. I am intentional about resting and spending time with God. When I do, he can speak to me and tell me what to do and in which order. When I listen to his Holy Spirit leading and guiding me, I find I am even more productive. Not only that, my life becomes more balanced. I am not rushing from place to place, but intentionally resting and working and being productive rather than just busy.

Today I encourage you to spend time and ask God what he thinks you should do today. If you have a long list of tasks, ask him to prioritise them for you. You will see how trusting God to lead you daily brings his peace and accomplishes his purposes for your life.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for leaving with us your precious Holy Spirit to lead and guide us. Today, Lord, help me to be mindful of your leading in my life. May I be obedient to do your will each day. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Day 5 // Trust God Always

Jeremiah 17:7-8

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Psalm 9:10

“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

It is easy to say we trust God when things are going well. It is easy to say we trust God at the start of a challenge or a difficult time. But as time goes by and you are still waiting for the promises of God to be fulfilled in your life, it can sometimes be hard to trust God in the waiting.

I have been waiting for four years for a promise I heard God say to me. At the beginning, it was exciting. I would say things like, “I can’t wait to see what God has for us!” As time ticked by and I watched and helped people around me receive the very thing I was waiting for, my words started to change. “God, seriously, I was not expecting to wait this long. Have you forgotten me?? How much longer??”

When those times come, and you feel you like God has forgotten you remember the word of God. “Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” God has not forgotten me. God has not forgotten you. Continue to trust God. He alone is trustworthy.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for loving me. Thank you that even while we wait and wonder, “When? Why? Where?” you are trustworthy. You never forget about us and we can trust you. Give us patience and let our words be full of faith while we wait. Amen.
