A five-day devotional by Reg Awoliyi. If the Bible was rewritten in

2020 and you were included in it, what would it say about you?

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Day 5

Day 1 // Different type of love

Mark 12:30-31 (NIV)

30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’  31 The second is this:  ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’  There is no commandment greater than these.”

If the Bible was rewritten in 2020 and you were included in it, what would it say about you? Would it say that you demonstrated a different type of love?  Would it say that because you truly love God with everything within you; that you had a supernatural love for those around you as a result?  Those who look different to you, speak different to you, have a different background and from another culture than you?  Who are another gender and age to you? That you choose sympathy over empathy when walking the journey of life with them?  That you weep when people weep?  That you hurt when people hurt?

Who is it in your world that you need to show a different kind of love to?

Day 2 // Different type of hope

Isaiah 40:31(NIV)

31 But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings

like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.

If the Bible was rewritten in 2020 and you were included in it, what would it say about you? Would it say that you showed a different type of hope?  Would it say that your hope was not in the things of this world, or that you hoped in your own skills and talents but rather God?  Would it say that though you were tired and wanted to give up you still had a belief, expectation and desire for God to show up and move on your behalf?  Would it say that you had a hope in Jesus, that it renewed and refreshed your inner most being?

Do you need to have a deeper hope in God?

----------------------------------------------

Day 3 // Different type of prayer

1 John 5:14 (NKJV)

14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we

ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

If the Bible was rewritten in 2020 and you were included in it, what would it say about you? Would it say that you prayed differently?  Would it say that you are in tune with God’s will, that you are praying that into existence?   Would it say that you are so confident that God will accomplish what He wants to do?  Would it say that you were asking for things that were in accordance to His will?  Would it say that your prayers were different because you knew who it was you were asking a request from - the King of the universe?

Are your prayers lined up with the will of God?

----------------------------------------------

Day 4 // Different type of joy

Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)

11 You will show me the path of life; in Your presence isfullness

of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

If the Bible was rewritten in 2020 and you were included in it, what would it say about you? Would it say that you had a different type of joy?  Would it say that you knew there’s a difference between joy and happiness?  Would it say that you knew that happiness is very much situational based, whereas joy is far deeper?  Would it say that you understood that happiness is an emotion in which we "experience feelings ranging from contentment and satisfaction to bliss and intense pleasure," whereas joy "is a stronger, less common feeling than happiness”?  Would it say that you experience joy when you achieve selflessness to the point of personal sacrifice?  Would it say that you feel joy when you are spiritually connected to God or people?  Would it say that you craved God’s presence?

How can you prioritise being in God’s presence?

----------------------------------------------

Day 5 // Different type of faith

Acts 5:15 (NKJV)

15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid themon beds and couches,

that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.

If the Bible was rewritten in 2020 and you were included in it, what would it say about you? Would it say that you had a different type of faith?  Would it say that your faith was high to believe the impossible?  Would it say that your faith inspired others? Would it say that your faith levels are high, and you could imagine God doing anything and everything?  Would it say that you craved opportunities for your faith to come alive?  Would it say that you played your part faithfully? Would it say that when your faith levels were low, you spoke to your soul to remember the goodness and faithfulness of your God?

How can you increase your faith levels?
